Clear Lake Water Quality Sampling Summary 2017

Clear Lake volunteers again participated in the Dakota Water Watch program. Phil G., Ron B. and Dave Bankers gathered water quality data for the mid-lakes area and conducted bacteria water samples for four shore-line areas. The bacteria samples are collected and then submitted to the SD Health Lab in Pierre for testing within a 30 hour period. Here are the test results for the mid lakes sample and the two shore line samples taken in July.

Mid Lake sample:
Nitrate = <0.2 mg/L
TKN = 0.85 mg/L
Total Phosphorus = 0.010 mg/L

Bacteria at 4807-03 (Dave Bankers) = 3.0 MPN/100 mL
Bacteria at 4807-02 (Boat landing) = 19.9 MPN/100mL

The volunteers took a second mid lakes sample and two more shore-line bacteria samples in August. Those results will be available later this year.
